About the Author
Phoenix Theater Examiner (My News/Reviews), Phoenix TV Examiner (my articles), book author (The Unreachable Star: My Unauthorized Travels with Patti LuPone), dabbling singer/actor, wife, mother to an autistic son, and oh yeah, attorney.
Here’s a little more in-depth bio:
A singer/performer in my youth, I was a voice major at Indiana University, but became a lawyer when I moved to Arizona after I graduated with degrees in sociology and speech communication. I quit practicing when my son was born, and a few years ago began performing again locally. I’ve performed in local dinner theater as well as a world premiere musical here in Arizona. I study voice, take acting/improv workshops, and was recently in The Vagina Monologues in Phoenix.
On the literary side of things, I’ve always loved books, am a big reader, and have recently begun writing. I just published my first book, a memoir about my son’s autism and my adventures as a rabid musical theatre fan and fledgling actor, titled The Unreachable Star: My Unauthorized Travels with Patti LuPone. I had a lot of fun writing it. Now I’m working on continuing to write as much as possible, and cling to the hope (dream?) of cultivating a successful writing career one day.
My day job right now is working for a superior court judge. I’m also a happily married 35-year-old slave - I mean, mom - to my 7-year-old autistic son, Max. He never ceases to thrill, and sometimes terrorize, me. I met my husband Conrad in law school and we’ve been married since September 10, 2001. In general he is infinitely saner and more affable than I am. Well, with a few notable exceptions.
